Fall has arrived and students are busy with the many activities offered here in the Jr. High. As you can see from the pictures on this web page, many of the 8th graders participated in preparing the wood to be used for our Sugar Maple Syrup production. Our environmental science teachers will be tapping trees for sap in the late winter, early spring. The sap is then boiled down to make the syrup. The boiler is wood fired, so the slab wood is cut and air dried for several months to prepare for this process. Our 8th grade Technology students are given the opportunity to learn how to use basic hand saws for wood cutting. The students enjoyed this experience while finding out that it takes a bit of muscle to cut when power tools are not available. They also learned how natural resources are used to produce goods in our society.
5 week reports were distributed to all students in homeroom last week. If for some reason your child forgot to bring it home, or somehow lost it, you can call the guidance office for a copy. This information is also posted on the Parent Portal for you to view.
I hope everyone has a great week.
