    March 26, 2021

    Dear Cahill Families,

Spring has sprung, and we are very excited to see our classrooms begin to fill with more students.  Spring break provides us a natural segue for a smooth transition back to school. March has proven to be a quiet month at Cahill.  As I walk through the hallways and pop into classrooms, I find students engaged in their work.  Our children have demonstrated a resilience that is truly remarkable.  We should all be very proud of their effort.

I would like to take a moment to share some changes that we will have in place upon our return in April.  In order to follow the CDC and UCDOH Guidelines, we have moved some classrooms due to the number of students at that grade level.  Classroom changes are as follows:

5th Grade, Mrs. Colby- Room 138- Art Room

5th Grade, Mrs. Liepshutz- Room 30- Music Room

Art supplies will be moved to Room 211, while Music will move to Room 101.  Mr. Miller will move to Room 12.

In addition to these changes, students in grades 2,4, & 6 will have lunch in the cafeteria.  We will add grade levels as we move forward, when the UCDOH guidance allows.  Students in grade 6 will have plexiglass barriers on their desks, due to the number of students in the classroom.  Other grade levels will use barriers as needed, based upon enrollment.

For students who ride the school bus, a video is being created to demonstrate what getting on and off the bus will look like.  I am sure it will be announced via text message to be viewed, or can be found on the SCSD web-site.  If you have any questions regarding your child returning to Cahill four days a week, please call our main office.

Several students have pre-existing seasonal allergies.  In an effort to be pro-active, I would ask parents to have their doctor/pediatrician fax a note to our Cahill School Nurse, 845-681-4001.

Lastly, I have posted a letter regarding the NYS Assessments for this spring.  Please refer to that letter for more information.

I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable SPRING BREAK!

All the best, Dawn Scannapieco, Principal
