    •  Ensure that your child gets proper rest!  Teens are growing and still require at least 8 hours of sleep every night.  Set regular bedtime hours and stick to them.

    • Make sure your child eats breakfast.  You wouldn't go on a road trip with your gas tank on empty, would you?  Don't send children to school hungry, their brain won't be ready to learn.
    • Show up at open house and parent/teacher conferences.  Both you and the teacher have your child's best interest at heart. We are their cheerleaders!
    • Don't stop being involved in what is going on in your child's life.
    • Keep the lines of communication open with your teenager.
    • Be a great listener. Remember:  "When EF Hutton speaks, people listen."
    • You are your child's first teacher.  Set a great example for them to follow.
    • Never stop reading with and to your child (no matter what their age is).  Only stop when they can out-read you. This is a great time to re-visit some books from your youth, but with a different perspective :)
