A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL
Wow! Can you believe it’s June already? This year has gone by so quickly. First, I would like to congratulate all of the fifth and sixth grade students (and our staff members) that participated in the 2019 Variety Show. I am impressed with the talent of our students, and thoroughly enjoyed watching everyone perform. Thank you to everyone that sponsored groups, and also a huge thanks to all of the staff that volunteered to make the show a success. A special thank you to all of the organizers!
This year’s Field Days were held on May 30th for students in grades K-3 and May 31st for students in grades 4-6. As expected it was a lot of fun for all of our students. A special thanks goes out to Coach Glover and Coach Collins who put a lot of time and effort into planning these fun filled days.
Our fourth grade students took the NYS Science performance test on Thursday, May 30th, and will take the NYS Science written test on Monday, June 3rd. Our sixth grade students will take the NYS ELA computer based Field Test on Wednesday, June 5th. Parents who do not want their child to participate in these tests should submit a letter at your earliest convenience.
We still have a few end-of-the year events! We are excited for the following:
The Kindergarten End of Year Celebration will be held on June 14th. It begins at 2:00 PM in the cafetorium.
The Third and Fourth Grade Spring Concert will be on June 11th at 2:00 PM in the cafetorium. Please come see our 4th grade band and 3rd grade students as they play the recorder.
The Moving Up Assembly for our 6th graders will be on Tuesday, June 18th at 9:45 AM in the Mt. Marion cafetorium for Mt. Marion students, and the night Moving-Up Ceremony will be the same day, Tuesday, June 18th at 7:00 PM for families. I know you join me in wishing this group of outstanding students all the best as they move up to the Junior High.
The Pre- K Moving Up ceremony for our Pre-K students will be held on Thursday, June 20th at 1:45PM.
On June 21st, we will have a quick end-of-year assembly to celebrate the 2018-2019 school year, and to share some exciting information about events and activities for the upcoming school year.
A representative from the Saugerties Public Library is coming to Mt. Marion on June 24th to tell us all about the Summer Reading Program. Students will learn that by reading they can discover new things and go on adventures. I look forward to hearing all about this exciting challenge.
Our last week of school is June 24 - June 26. June 24, June 25 and 26 are early dismissals beginning at 12:15 for pickups/walkers. Bus students should depart by 12:30. Please remember to notify child care providers if appropriate.
I wish all of you a long, safe, and relaxing summer. If you are traveling this summer, please drive carefully. Also, please be sure your children read over the summer. I cannot wait to see all of you in September.
