Welcome to Ms. McManigal's Fourth Grade
    PLEASE CONTACT ME AT smcmanigal@saugerties.k12.ny.us
I will be checking my email regularly between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

If I have your current email, I have sent a copy of a survey that Cahill would like to have completed so we can best see how to meet the needs of our students. Please complete it and return it by the end of the weekend.

Good evening, everyone! Tomorrow is the big day! Please do not stress about the upcoming weeks with your child's education. Ms. Smith and I have been working very hard to come up to speed with technology and a new form of instruction, and it will not be perfect. We will have to experience this together. I'm trying to think of it as a learning adventure.

Materials Pickup:  Ms. Smith and I will be putting together materials for your student, i.e. textbooks, and personal items that they may have left in their cubby or desk. These will be available for pickup at Cahill along with their learning packets on Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

-Google Classroom:  For tomorrow, 3/30, I am hoping that students will be able to log into their Google Classrooms, if they haven't already done so. I will be uploading new Social Studies and ELA lessons each evening (or early a.m.), and lessons should be ready to go by 9 a.m. This does NOT mean that they will need to log into Google Classroom at 9 a.m., only that their assignments will be available at that time. If they fall behind a day or two due to whatever reason, they can easily catch up. I will not be keeping anyone in for lunchroom detention ;-D. I will be available from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. via smcmanigal@saugerties.k12.ny.us, or through comments on Google Classroom. I will respond to you later in the day, as well, but probably not as quickly.

Packets: I know that parents of some students picked up work packets on 3/16 and some did not. This has been a time of confusion, and not all parents were aware of a pick-up time. The next two weeks' instruction will mirror the packets. If students completed work already, they do not have to re-complete their work online. They can simply turn in the work at the end of our "PAUSE" and it will be graded at that time.

Chromebooks: for those of you who need supplemental technology support (a Chromebook), they will still be available tomorrow for pick-up. If you go to the Saugerties CSD website, you will find an online application for a chromebook. You will need your child's ID. If they do not remember it, message me and I will send it to you.

Work format: I am currently planning on uploading all individual work pages, etc., onto Google Classroom.  In the meantime, if students feel more comfortable looking at the work online but recording answers into a separate notebook, that would be fine. I would like students to use the method of completing work that they feel most comfortable with. I'm pretty flexible.

Supplemental work: I would encourage your child to access LEXIA, Accelerated Reader, IReady, and our other online learning resources. They are available for skills practice at anytime. ALSO, I would be very happy if students kept a journal. In the future, this will be considered a primary source document. We are sharing a worldwide historical experience.

Family support: If at anytime your child (or you, as a family) are in need of any other support, please reach out. The district and our PTAs want to make sure all of our children and their families are fed and safe at this time.

Thank you again for being the wonderful and supportive fourth grade community that you are.

    Sincerely, Susan McManigal

I MISS ALL OF YOU, AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU SOON! PLEASE STAY HEALTHY!! STUDENTS - IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO EMAIL ME, I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU.
