In honor of the anniversary of 9/11, Riccardi Elementary School’s Grade 6 students in Joseph Tiano's class have been learning about the impact of that tragic day. The class read personal accounts and explored how the events affected people worldwide through the powerful book 14 Cows for America by Carmen Agra Deedy. This true story recounts a heartfelt gesture by the Maasai people of Kenya, who offered 14 cows to the United States as a symbol of peace and healing after the attacks.
We're reflecting on the excitement of last week as students hopped off their buses, ready to kick off the school year with smiles all around. Even the bus drivers were beaming as they welcomed everyone back.

This morning, our Saugerties High School seniors kicked off their last first day of school with a memorable meet-up at Simmon's Plaza! They gathered bright and early to snap some fun photos, enjoy delicious bacon and egg breakfast sandwiches (made by our very own students!), and show off their decked-out cars, and cool new backpacks, all while drinking freshly brewed coffee. Cause after all, Students run on Dunkin.
