Cahill Students Collaborate with Muralist Joe Pimentel on Inspiring School Mural

Pimentel’s mission is to give students the opportunity to participate in the mural-making process. This particular piece was inspired by student drawings and centered around themes of collaboration, compassion, empowerment, and integrity. Students across the school submitted their ideas, which Pimentel used to design a digital layout. That layout was then projected onto the wall, where Grade 5 and 6 students worked alongside him to paint the final mural.

The finished artwork features vibrant rainbows, thinking light bulbs, the school’s cougar mascots, and hands holding a heart—a visual reminder of who the students are and what they stand for.

For Pimentel, the experience goes beyond art. He hopes students walk away with a bigger lesson: to follow their dreams. “Do what you love to do,” he says, “and you’ll never really work a day in your life.”
