Innovators Club Inspires Interest in STEM

The club, called the Innovators Club, has introduced students to all sorts of hand-on learning projects, including LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 kits, which allowed the young scientists to build and code robots. Students also built catapults out of household supplies, made symmetrical snowflakes with paper and Q-tips, and grew crystal rocks from a Smithsonian science kit. Through the Sawyer Motors Foundation Innovation Grant, Yonnetti  was also able to purchase KiwiCo Robot kits, which encouraged the club members to tinker, explore, and engage in innovative thinking. “Project-based learning and problem-solving help our students to form a special mindset,” said Yonnetti. “They equip students to work together, to collaborate, and to think outside the box.”
