Local Grains, Local Gains: Students Sample Hudson Valley Whole Wheat Bread

Celeste Yglesia from Milestone Mill visited to host a bread tasting with students before the district decided to offer this locally made option alongside the current choices of white bread, sub rolls, kaiser rolls, wraps, and marble rye.

This Community Whole Wheat Sandwich Loaf is truly a local effort—it’s made with wheat grown and milled in the Hudson Valley and baked at Bread Alone before making its way to our cafeterias.

Cafeteria Manager Sheila Melville shared that the student response was overwhelmingly positive and she looks forward to serving it up soon.

Milestone Mill, a non-profit Hudson Valley-based mill, partners with local farms, bakers, and schools to bring fresh, healthy food to families across our region.
