Saugerties Business Department Recognized for Excellence in the Field of Business Education

We are thrilled to announce that the Saugerties High School Business Department has been selected as one of this year's recipients of the prestigious Department of the Year Award by the Business Teachers Association of New York State (BTANYS)! 

This esteemed award recognizes excellence in the field of business education and celebrates the outstanding contributions of departments that continually strive for the improvement, promotion, development, and progress of business education. 

The Saugerties Business Department truly stands out with its impressive range of unique programs, including video production, computer design, Desktop Publishing, accounting, and financial management. What's even more impressive is their commitment to Project Based Learning, enhancing their students' learning experience! 

Here are some remarkable highlights of the Saugerties Business Department:
1. Students can earn college credit at Ulster Community College for their high school coursework, providing them with a head start on their educational journey.
2. They offer a diverse selection of 11 different courses, including Broadcast Journalism and Desktop Publishing, catering to a wide range of interests and career aspirations.
3. Their students have earned well-deserved recognition from the Empire State School Press Association, demonstrating their exceptional skills and dedication.

The Department of the Year Award will be officially presented to Saugerties High School Business Department at the upcoming BTANYS annual conference on October 20, 2023, at The Century House in Latham.

Guest Speaker at the Youth Rally

Earlier this week, Saugerties students joined together with Grade 9 peers from Ulster County schools at an impactful youth rally at SUNY Ulster, aimed at highlighting the dangers of substance abuse. The event featured an incredible speaker, Tony Hoffman, who bravely shared his journey from BMX stardom to addiction and recovery.

We are thrilled to announce a County-wide presentation on drug addiction and prevention, specially organized for Grade 9 students, taking place on Monday, October 2, at SUNY Ulster. This educational event is proudly sponsored by the RYAN House, a Saugerties-based organization dedicated to raising awareness about narcotics and providing support for those battling addiction.
