Count Me In: Be a part of the 2020 Census click here.
The U.S. Census Bureau has mailed out invitations to households across the country to complete a 10-question census form. The census is completed every 10 years and its data is used in a variety of ways, from determining how many members of Congress a state will get to how billions of dollars of federal funds will be spent. The Saugerties Central School District is encouraging all residents to participate in this national headcount, which directly benefits funding available to the school district and local community.

    Welcome back!

I want to take a moment before the Labor Day weekend to welcome our students back and to reassure our families of our preparedness. We have had a very engaging summer, filled with learning, and reimagining how our school days will look. While it was a daunting task at times, it was also an opportunity to think about the future and ways we can best serve our students. Once the pandemic is behind us, the lessons learned will create new opportunities. A special thanks to our re-opening task force that started meeting in April and continued to meet throughout the summer. Their effort was admirable and invaluable. Thank you also to our community members who took part in our three virtual “Town Hall” meetings and shared insightful questions and/or concerns regarding our reopening plan. This participation was appreciated and helped us adapt our plans to better achieve our goals.

As a district, we have decided to start the 2020-2021 school year using our 100% remote learning plan (found at )Tuesday will be our first day of school for all students (following the Tuesday schedule in our plan). Students who are in Kindergarten through Grade 6 will have direct instruction delivered remotely on the morning of September 8, and Grades 7 through 12 students will start their day in the afternoon with period five and have direct instruction delivered remotely through period eight. Students in Grades K-6 will receive their Google Classroom login information from their teacher on or before September 3rd. Secondary students will find login information on their school website. Please be sure to log in to the Google Classroom for specific start times and important information. On Wednesday all students will have a remote learning day with building-specific times for both direct and indirect instruction.

Our elementary schools will generate a weekly schedule of meeting times, which will occur throughout the day, designed to serve the educational and developmental needs of our younger students. Our secondary schools will follow our eight-period bell schedule, which will help our students transition back to 100% in-person learning when the time comes to return to campus.

Our main goal this fall is to help our students and families transition back into the strongest academic environment possible under the various educational models. We are required to take daily attendance, which will be done primarily through Infinite Campus and our on-line platforms.

Once we get started, please be sure to ask your child questions about how his/her remote learning experience is going, and be sure to share any concerns with your child’s teacher. We are here to serve.

Thank you for your support. We are thrilled to be starting our new school year and “seeing” our wonderful students in a few days.

    Kirk Reinhardt
    Superintendent of Schools

     NY State of Health

As we work through these challenging times together, NY State of Health is committed to
ensuring access to affordable, quality health insurance for all New Yorkers so they can get the
care they need during this state of emergency.

With the recent closure of businesses across the state, many New Yorkers are at risk of losing their health insurance coverage as a result of COVID-19. Many are likely to be eligible for health
coverage with financial assistance through NY State of Health due to their loss of coverage and income. NY State of Health opened a Special Enrollment Period last month for people who are uninsured, and the Marketplace has started an awareness campaign to let people know that NY State of Health is there as a safety net in difficult times like these.

New Yorkers who are without health insurance should apply now through NY State of Health. If you lost employer coverage, you must apply within 60 days of losing that coverage. Because of a loss of income, New Yorkers may also be eligible for Medicaid, the Essential Plan, Child Health Plus, or subsidized Qualified Health Plan coverage.

Thousands of assistors are ready throughout the state to help consumers enroll by phone. NY State of Health is committed to helping New Yorkers get the coverage they need so they can get the care they need.

Visit us at: and let us help you find a health care plan that works for you.

If you have additional questions you can contact the Marketplace directly at 518-486-9102 or
